Jobing Description

This position is accountable for the management of AEC s injection technical resources and process in Rochester. This position will be responsible for technical standardization, resource allocation and process improvement to build a world class composite manufacturing organization within the scope of RTM. Frequent customer interaction is expected. This position is required to operate within TRL 4-6 (prototype through capable process development) while supporting the clear handoffs from TRL 1-3 (R&T) and TRL 7-9 (operations).

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement, and maintain standards applicable to development and manufacture of advanced composite products.
2. Plan and manage projects. Utilize staffing and resource management tools and plans to meet company goals and internal and external customer requirements. Supervise engineers, technicians, and key vendors. Manage the day-to-day execution of projects, including problem identification and issue resolution. Focus on results performance, process improvement, initiative, teamwork, and ownership in the injection organization.
3. Provide technical oversight and expertise as required, and work closely with technical specialists and other functional area management to ensure cost, quality, technical performance, budget, and delivery requirements are met. Share resources as appropriate.
4. Interface with both internal and external customers to help shape capable, efficient and cost effective solutions.
5. Ensure adherence to company and customer Quality System policies and procedures.
6. Provide leadership and development of direct reports with performance appraisals, career development guidance, reward and recognition, and appropriate training opportunities.
7. Support the development, implementation and refinement of AEC s new product introduction process. Work with other functional leadership to identify and staff IPTs appropriately. Assess technical competencies of the organization, identify skills and training needs and assist in developing plans to address them.
8. Provide formal performance reports related to project status, and progress related to specific deadlines and allocated resources.

Required Skills

* Strong proficiency with the design, development and manufacturing of Aerospace composite structures and components, specifically in some or all of the following:
* Working knowledge of design and manufacture of textiles and dry preforms (especially carbon fiber, glass, aramid, etc.).
* Aerospace composite manufacturing experience (i.e., dry or prepreg layup, RTM/VARTM).
* Manufacturing tooling/fixture design utilizing CAD/CAM software (UG, CATIA or equivalent).
* Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and inspection methods.
* Qualification and FAA certification process for Aerospace products considered a plus.

* Good understanding of engineering and product development processes, including Integrated Product Design and Development, Configuration Control Boards, Product Lifecycle Management, MRB, and Program Planning. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the development of new products and the optimization of processes and controls.
* Understanding of MRP/planning methodologies (SAP, Oracle, etc.
* Proficient in project management methods and tools, particularly planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling programs and projects.
* Strong teaming and people skills, including interpersonal skills that are required to lead, mentor, communicate, coordinate, facilitate, motivate and build the project team.
* Superior written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven problem solving skills in teamwork setting.
* MSOffice proficient.
* Strong leadership and supervision ability

Required Experience

* 7+ years related experience including 3+ years experience in engineering/technical/program management roles, or equivalent. Supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership, commitment, and performance on complex projects.
* Engineering Degree (minimum BS in AE/ME/IE or equivalent, Masters level a plus)
* Experience with Aerospace OEM prime and/or Tier 1 supplier to Aerospace industry a plus
* Understanding and practice of Lean/Six Sigma principles, Design for Six Sigma or Robust Design capability; experience with lean tools such as 5S, Visual Factory, value stream mapping a plus.
