Position Summary
A Curriculum and Assessment Specialist in mathematics is responsible for the test development activities for one or more large-scale assessment programs. Specialists develop multiple-choice, short-answer, and constructed-response items with rubrics according to state curriculum frameworks and other requirements. Specialists also develop and refine test blueprints, scoring guides, and supplementary materials, as well as facilitate advisory committee meetings. Additional responsibilities include the following:
* Prepare educational assessment items according to published standards, specifications, and deadlines.
* Plan, direct, and facilitate off-site content advisory committee meetings and review test items and scoring guides for content and technical quality.
* Work with scoring leadership personnel to resolve issues around the application of rubrics.
* Utilize teaching experience and curriculum expertise, including thorough knowledge of national and/or state curriculum standards.
* Apply content knowledge in creating large scale customized assessments.
* Employ excellent written and verbal communication skills in planning and running professional meetings and workshops.
* Travel to committee meetings and state departments of education.
Qualifications
* Bachelor ??s degree and a minimum of four (4) years of combined classroom teaching and/or educational assessment experience. A Master ??s degree or Ph.D. in an applicable discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of teaching experience.
