Position Summary:
Director, Marketing Communications, LCD will be responsible for planning and implementing all marketing communications programs to meet the strategies of the company, division and its business units. This position will organize a team of marketing communications professionals who will drive excellence and adherence to corporate guidelines in branding and communications.
In addition, this director will establish clear processes to drive efficiencies while tracking and reporting metrics against programs; building and maintaining a divisional marketing communications budget and investigating and aligning with corporate, group and divisional marketing communications personnel for effective communications and cross selling opportunities.
He or she should have demonstrated management, leadership and communication skills while having the foresight to investigate and select new programs to drive business. Selection and guidance of tactical programs will include print, online, pr, media selection, promotional opportunities working with all divisional functional groups to be responsive to business needs and foster success. The director will have a direct line reporting to the LPG/BID VP of Marketing Communications with a dotted line into the divisional president for successful collaboration and alignment with all divisional priorities.
The Director will have a good understanding of our scientific customer needs, channel responsibilities and commercial capabilities. He or she will work to guide the selection of internal and external vendors with responsibility to communicate deadlines and commitments. Last but not least, they will manage to enhance the overall marketing communications capabilities and surpass the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and manage BU marketing communications team to drive excellence and develop capabilities and personnel.
* Plan and manage Divisional marketing communications budget and report metrics on ongoing basis.
* Guide BU marcom personnel in program selection and implementation for business success.
* Manage corporate policies for branding and communications around set approval processes.
* Work as part of the LPG/BID marketing communications leadership to select and communicate best practices and processes for use by BU s.
* Manage priorities of resources adhering to the needs of the BU s and division.
* Ensure worldwide compliance standards are met and maintained by identifying changes in regulations and pending legislations
* Align with group functional personnel to enhance reach and drive success.
* Determine needs of the customer (internal and external) and focus priorities for satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, business or related field. MBA preferred
* A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Marketing, Communications or Project Management.
* Demonstrated ability to be a thought leader on strategic and marketing initiatives
* Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead across a variety of teams (geographic, business type, management style)
* Robust knowledge of customer (in this case scientists, lab staff, procurement) research, collaboration and purchase preferences
* Ability to understand internal business operations, identify similarities and divergences
* Ability to research market trends and participate in industry-relevant events, analyze potential technical and process solutions that can be applied to Thermo Fisher strategy
* Good personal initiative and an ability to motivate self and others, as well as a strong customer service orientation
* Ability to work effectively with all levels of the corporation
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
* Must have excellent time management skills
