This position is for an FPGA Lead Design/Verification Engineer with the technical and programmatic leadership and organizational skills necessary to oversee and coordinate a team of hardware engineers in the development of complex defense electronics products.
As a technical lead the individual must be able to train and mentor the next generation of FPGA designers and architects for the company. The individual will drive the reuse of design to lower program development costs while transforming the future FPGA architectures and products. The individual must be capable of leading the company FPGA Community of Practice (CoP) and will be responsible for capturing and transferring FPGA knowledge across the enterprise.
Individual must also be able to function as a Hardware Manager on programs requiring up to 50+ engineers and will be responsible for the development and management of cost and schedule and overall execution of the hardware engineering efforts.

Bachelors and 12+ year(s) related experience
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineeering or Scientific field or equivalent experience,Employees in California must have a Bachelor?s degree in the applicable field, or an applicable certification, equivalent certificate or any required license. Equivalent experience will not be considered.
Required Skills:
Twelve or more years experience developing hardware requirements, designs, verification and validation of products, and product integration required. Experience using state-of-the-art technology, principles, tools and concepts required.
Must be recognized expert in logic design, especially as targeted to Xilinx and other FPGA devices (detailed knowledge of FPGA infrastructure, tools, etc.). Must be able to understand Systems Engineering requirements and negotiate functional partitioning knowing what should and should not be implemented in FPGAs. Must be able to partition functions among multiple FPGAs. Must have a good understanding of computer arithmetic and of a variety of common algorithms and must be able to pick up new algorithms quickly. Must be able to analyze algorithm performance versus generalized cost.
Must have experience with hardware development lifecycle and development processes and procedures. Must be capable of performing the following hardware engineering functions: a. Develop, allocate, and manage highly complex sub-system and component level hardware requirements. b. Review and analyze highly complex system level design concepts with hardware content. c. Research and develop highly complex hardware designs using company standard CAD and CAE tools. d. Review highly complex designs and architectures and recommend design modifications to eliminate design flaws that do not support system requirements. e. Analyze, prepare, and maintain documentation (technical documents, engineering drawings, specifications and standards) for highly complex hardware designs and architectures in accordance with established hardware development processes and procedures. f. Perform highly complex hardware integration activities and supports system level integration and test. Must be able to communicate well in both spoken and written form with customers (both internal and external) and other team members. Must have leadership skills in conjunction with knowledge of cost estimating/proposals, execution and metric tracking and have demonstrated success of hardware projects in the range of $10 to $20 million.
