Jobing Description
The Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading and developing the members of the Sourcing team and all related processes and practices. This role establishes and drives sourcing and supply base strategy in concert with Commodity Manger and Supplier Quality Engineering input where appropriate. Ultimately manages all resources to assure timely, accurate and cost effective material flow to support business objectives.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership to team of Buyer/Planners through training, goal setting, performance evaluation, mentoring and daily operational support.
* Define /select network of approved suppliers for all commodities not covered through Commodity Manager(s).
* Define and drive activities to address evolving needs of the organization and to, ultimately, accomplish divisional on-time delivery, cost and inventory turns goals.
* Develop an understanding of critical commodities and the associated market conditions, industry trends, processes, suppliers, cost drivers, etc for definition and documentation of sourcing strategy.
* Develop suppliers capabilities to improve quality, delivery and cost structure and to reduce supply base as appropriate.
* Drive implementation of established supplier quality-related initiatives.
* Secure best cost structure and define cost reduction initiatives and metrics.
* Ensure appropriate material planning and purchasing practices are in place and documented.
* Implement Supplier Managed Inventory programs and other functional and company-wide process improvements.
* Interpret program and/or statement of work requirements; recommend and implement action w/ SQE, Sourcing team & supply base to ensure compliance. Understand and manage activities in accordance with FAR/DFARs, where required.
* Write & award Sourcing Agreements, where required.
* Support Sales in cost estimation activities for customer RFQ s.
* Assure compliance to all ISO, SOx and ITAR regulations.
Experience:
Bachelors Degree preferred, with a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience and 3 years of related management experience or demonstrated effectiveness to meet the managerial expectations; or equivalent professional work experience and/or education.
* Additional C.P.M. tract education preferred.
* 5+ years of Sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrated experience in contract negotiations and supplier selection/management.
* Experience in purchase of technical commodities and implementation of best practices.
* Knowledge of ITAR, ISO9000, SOx, FAR/DFAR compliance requirements a plus.
* Working Knowledge of ERP systems preferred.
