JOB SUMMARY
The Global Brain Health Insitute (www.gbhi.org) has a unique opportunity for a talented and passionate communications expert to join our team. In the role of Communications Specialist, you will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to communicate GBHI’s programs and increase GBHI’s profile to a world-wide audience. The Communications Specialist will work directly with members of GBHI’s Executive Management as well as coordinate activities with faculty and staff at UCSF and Trinity College Dublin. The position requires creativity, independence and a strong commitment to GBHI’s mission to reduce the scale and impact of dementia by training and supporting a new generation of leaders in brain health.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Communications Specialist works with management, faculty and staff to develop and execute GBHI’s communications and marketing strategy. Utlizes best practices in marketing and communications to conceptualize, develop, write/edit, and manage creative process for a variety of comprehensive materials and strategic communications, which may include reports, articles, proposals, talking points and promotional/recruitment materials. Is responsible for developing and ensuring accuracy of all materials, stylistic consistency, logic and design. Produces unique digital content for the GBHI website and social media and also recommends and participates in design and development of the GBHI website; coordinates production of a variety of printed and on-line material or the conversion of printed material to on-line formats. Tracks news items and press coverage of GBHI. Maintains a library/database of written materials, branding and marketing templates, and communcations distribution lists.

The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) was established in 2015 with two co-founding sites at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) and Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). GBHI works to reduce the scale and impact of dementia by training and supporting a new generation of leaders in brain health.

GBHI’s unique training program is a 12-month fellowship where trainees come from a wide range of interprofessional backgrounds including doctors, lawyers, writers, artists, caregivers and policy-makers. GBHI competes to attract high quality, international candidates and seeks to raise greater awareness of the program through written materials, social media and a strategic communications. Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
•Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
•Knowledge of marketing and brand best practices, including marketing campaign development and creation and/or adoption/interpretation of existing brands
•Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
•Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
•Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political
acumen skills.
•Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
•Thorough interpersonal communications skills, including active listening and effective collaboration skills.
•Thorough attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.
•Skilled in on-line social media and blogging.

Preferred Qualifications
•Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
•Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and / or health sciences.
•Understanding and good knowledge of science and medical terms.
•Thorough knowledge of training programs, including how to communicated mission, goals, achievements, infrastructure, programs, and policies.
•Thorough knowledge of issues in higher education, a specialized academic discipline or field and / or health sciences.
